02. Share a Childhood Memory

When I was young, I remember everyone was old enough to go to school except for me and Marshua. Mom would wake us up really early with everyone else to drop marshua and I at grandma’s. I would always cry and say, “No, I wanna go to school too!” They had to lie to me that I was going to school, but as soon as I got to grandma’s house, nothing else mattered. I loved being at grandma’s! It was the best place in the world! I remember always arriving to a set table of eggs and sausages my grandma had cooked and prepared for us. Marshua and I would sit there eating and watching Sailor Moon, while my grandpa sat next to us eating his bread dipped in orange juice. After breakfast, marshua and I would just play random things. I remember we used to finish bags of chips, cut the bags open, place the oily side on the carpet, and slide on them like they were our skateboards lol. We would get yelled at but still do it again anyway. My favorite memories of grandma’s house are the times that grandma would make us help her sew hmong clothes. I used to be so good at it, but as I started growing up, started visiting less, I stopped knowing how to sew. I wish I could learn everything and anything from here again, but it’s been 11 years since her passing, and 6 years since my grandpa’s passing. I miss them, they were the biggest part of my childhood.
